The trending phrase is ‘Colour Drenching’. In a nutshell this means pick a colour, any colour, and add loads of it to a room. No more picking a wall to be a feature, it’s about covering all the walls in colour. Now this is a trend I am loving! In terms of what colours are trending it's all the warm shades; yellows, oranges, and shades of pink. But don’t forget blue (in all its shades) as well as olive green, they’re also sticking around.
Retro-mashup is also a term being bandied about for 2024 and this is actually super cool. It essentially means mixing eclectic styles from the 60’s, 70’s, 80’s etc etc and creating a cool, fun, interesting space. Not being constrained by what's on trend this year but rather being inspired by all the cool stuff that's gone previously and mixing it all up. While a retro-mashup won’t be everyone’s cup of tea it's an awesome excuse to hit the op shops and create an unexpected space that exudes interest and warmth. Thankfully, I’ve always done this. My home is a complete mish-mash of ‘stuff’ but it’s all ‘stuff’ I personally love and that's the key to creating a home you love.
